A cornerstone of luxury menswear in Brisbane for over 40 years, Mitchell Ogilvie has built a reputation for impeccable craftsmanship and tailored sophistication. Expanding to James Street, the brand required a space that would honour its heritage while appealing to a new generation of clientele. The design seamlessly blends classic refinement with contemporary luxury, creating an environment that reflects high-end retail at its finest. More than just a boutique, it’s a space that enhances the customer journey—offering an experience as elevated as the garments themselves.
Designing for luxury menswear retail demands a careful balance between tradition and innovation. The new Mitchell Ogilvie boutique captures this through a considered approach to spatial planning, materiality, and customer experience. Grand proportions and soaring ceilings create a sense of understated opulence, while a rich, tactile paletteof velvet, timber, and metal detailing reinforces the precision and craftsmanship behind the brand.
The design was driven by the need for a seamless customer experience, ensuring effortless flow between ready-to-wear collections and the exclusive made-to-measure service. A plush velvet-clad wall draws customers up to the mezzanine level, where tailored fittings take place in a private, refined setting. A statement ceiling on the James Street side adds impact and presence, anchoring the store within its high-end precinct, while a carefully curated display at the Ada Lane entrance transitions into a luxurious, lounge-like fitting area. Every detail enhances the in-store experience, reinforcing Mitchell Ogilvie’s position as Brisbane’s leading name in luxury menswear.
